DAILY BREAD
The Daily Bread is a mission located on the North Side of Pittsburgh that feeds lunch to those in need three days a week. The only beverages provided are coffee and water. Coffee is an expensive item on their budget – your donations would be most helpful in this area. Please consider donating fine ground coffee (caffeinated only) for the Daily Bread mission. Men's clothing that is clean, season appropriate and new or gently used is also needed. There is no storage available at McKnight. Items that can be used immediately are most valued. You may place your donation in the box located in the Welcome Center. Thank you for your support!
Innovative ways to contribute are, collecting free samples of toothbrushes and toothpaste from your Dentist, collecting soap and shampoo from motels/hotels while on vacation and/or business trips, as well as collecting usable clothing from rummage sales.
Before the COVID-19 pandemic started, McKnight Church would visit on the first Tuesday of each month to supply a hot meal to those in need on the North Side of Pittsburgh through "Daily Bread" (formerly called the Congregate Feeding Program) of the United Methodist Church Union. At this time, MUMC is currently sending monthly donations of $75 in lieu of our in-person meal since we are not volunteering in person at the Daily Bread. If you would like to make a monetary donation for this ministry, please be sure to indicate "Daily Bread" on memo line of check or write a note with whatever means you prefer to pay with. Contact Bob Brown (phi42@aol.com or 412-369-5117) if you are interested in volunteering.
